Population Health Research and Community Health
Our department is actively engaged in cohort studies and community awareness research targeting cardiovascular diseases and lifestyle-related diseases. Many of our research findings have contributed to the development of medical practice guidelines and planning by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in Japan.
Ongoing projects are as follows:
- EPOCH-JAPAN (Integrated Database Collaborative Study of Cardiovascular Epidemiology Cohort Studies)
- Using big data of 17 cohorts of 2.5 million person-years, we evaluate risk factors for lifestyle-related diseases and examining models for predicting disease onset.
- The KOBE Study: An urban cohort study using daily health as an indicator
- Healthy citizens with no history of illness or treatment are being followed for changes in quality of life.
- An educational study of citizens to promote appropriate medical examination behavior at the onset of stroke
- We evaluate methods and their effectiveness of awareness-raising activities in communities and schools.
- NIPPON DATA (National Integrated Project for Prospective Observation of Non-communicable Disease And its Trends in the Aged)
- A follow-up study of the recipients of the Basic Survey on Cardiovascular Diseases (National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey) conducted by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan.
